Different Types of Bicycle Racks

It can safely be said that bike racks or bicycle racks were not considered to be as important earlier as they are today. Your earliest memories of your bicycle days might as well date back to the times when you threw your bike on the grass after your first successful ride and screamed your lungs out declaring your success. However, bike storage remains the primary concern of bikers of all age. Today we offer a sneak peek in to the various types of Bicycle Racks.

The Types of the bike racks in use
The U-Shaped bike racks make for one of the most economical choices when it comes to bike racks. The simple “inverted U” design enables you to lock the front wheel of your bike without twisting the same. The simple U-racks are available both in round and square shapes. The U Corral bikes are popular alternatives to the simple U shaped racks and are ideal for use in commercial buildings, parking garages, homes, basements and bike rooms. Here, the U-racks are bolted in to a pair of steel racks (with due endurance) instead of being set in to a concrete.
Another variation of the U-Racks is the Ringo rack which is more circular in shape and backed by a more graceful appeal.
The Vertical Racks: The Vertical racks are equally popular as well and are meant for both indoor and outdoor use. These racks are primarily favored for their space saving and aesthetic properties. These are wall mounted racks where the bikes are hung at least a few feet above the ground.
The Hitching Post or Traffic Bollard are backed by steel hoops and are ideal for use in areas with high (pedestrian) traffic. They can be used in sidewalks as well.

Choosing the Bicycle Racks
All the aforementioned bike racks are available in different sizes, colors, styles, holding capacities and budgets. Make sure you are educating yourself about each one of their functionalities before determining the type of rack you want to get for outdoor and indoor use. The internet will provide you with a lot of information about the manufacturers of bike racks. Contacting a manufacturer directly for references is recommended as well.
